WRETCH Parts Ways With Drummer, Seeks Replacement
November 27, 2010Cleveland, Ohio-based metal band WRETCH has parted ways with drummer Chris Koshock (pictured below second from right). Koshock, who joined the band in 2005 replacing Jeff Currenton (ex-SEVEN WITCHES, WINTERS BANE),is leaving the group to devote more time to his family and job.
"We want to thank Chris for being part of WRETCH all these years and everything he contributed," says guitarist and main songwriter Nick Giannakos. "We are going to move forward and find a replacement.
"We're looking for a double bass, power metal-oriented drummer in the style of HELLOWEEN's Daniel Löble," adds Giannakos. "His drumming on the new '7 Sinners' album is phenomenal!"
Any drummers interested in auditioning for WRETCH can contact the band at [email protected].
Joining Giannakos in WRETCH's current lineup are Colin Watson (vocals),Shaun Vanek (guitar) and Tim Frederick (bass).
Giannakos also plays guitar in BREAKER and will be traveling with them to perform at the Keep It True XIV festival, set to take place April 29-30, 2011 at Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany.
Vanek and Frederick are also in ETERNAL LEGACY.
WRETCH released its critically acclaimed "Reborn" debut CD in 2006 and "Make This Garden Burn" EP in 2007 on Auburn Records. They also performed at the 2007 Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany. The song "Make This Garden Burn" was written in honor of the event's 10th anniversary and has become the official theme song of the festival.
The band is currently recording an as-yet-untitled new album for Auburn Records at Noise Floor Studios in Cleveland with engineer Don Depew (BREAKER). The music is completed and recording has started on the vocals.
"This is the best material we have ever written, performed and recorded," proclaims Giannakos. "It's all brand new material with nothing resurrected from our past '80s catalog. We're all very happy with the way everything is turning out so far and looking forward to releasing the album next year."
